UE4 removes assets after abrupt PC shut down

After multiple occasions that my PC had forcingly been shut down due to electricity problems and so on, I have now confirmed that UE4 would delete the currently opened assets that I had been working on at the time. Blueprints, materials, and maps have disappeared from my content browser, however, were still visible in the file explorer. They seemed to be corrupted and I couldn’t load them up in the same UE4 project anymore. I found that the only way I could get a file back would be if I had a backed-up version of that same file stored somewhere already. In most cases, I didn’t and had been unable to recover many hours of work. I would like to know if there is some sort of fix to this. I have saved all of these corrupted files in hopes that somehow they can be uncorrupted again and not having to remake these assets from the beginning.
