UE for movie: why to use it? (Why not to use just IClone?)

Hey,
I am learning UE, especially for move making (not planing to make games so far). I spent like 40 hours in tutorials. But now I discovered IClone, that basically can do all I need:

  • setup a scene
  • create a character
  • animate character
  • render
  • etc…
  • easy to orient in

On the other hand, UE has these issues for me:

  • need to learn blueprints and other things in order to be able to do anything
  • seems excesive
  • to create a movie or just a shot seems so much more complicated to me. In IClone I did it with the first tutorial in the first hour, including writing this post

So now I am thinking about why should I keep using UE. I believe an experienced person might know the differences and limits of individual workflows.

I see on youtube, that people use IClone to link it with UE. But why do they not use just iClone?

Thank you <3

Because simply UE4 has a ton of capabilities. It’s the best of the best when it comes to game engines (depending on your view). With cinema, it can do a lot. Procedural generation for example, while iClone I don’t think can. Anything with heavy duty stuff, generation, etc is just done in UE4. I don’t use iclone so I can’t speak for it, but I do use UE4 and can say it’s a great tool.
