Turning off Vive Chaperone

Is there any way in the engine to disable the chaperone that appears when playing a shipped VR game with HTC Vive? - Preferably, without modifying engine / plugin code?

We are working on a space fighting game with cockpit perspective, it is a purely seated experience, so we really don’t need a visible chaperone.
I know there are some workarounds on the player’s side (setting the alpha to 0 in the Steam settings), but it would really be nice to have an in-engine setting to switch it off for seated experiences.
