Translucent material rendering in front of non translucent.

As you can probably see in the image attached the mesh is rendering the far side of the mesh cup in front of the pens and pencils. I have some of the material settings shown on the right.I have tried separating the cup mesh from the pens and have assigned them two different materials. I have tried duplicating the walls of the cup of shrinking them down and flipping the normals then disabling two sided mesh. None of these have changed it at all. I can’t find anything else online to help me out. Also as a side note… how can I get the dynamic shadows to read the transparency and cast light through the holes? Thanks and I am really inexperienced with materials so excuse me if it is really simple.
