Tips on character on Maya and UE4

Hey guys I am new here and I was wondering when developing a character for a game do I need to develop the animation rig from maya to unreal engine or would I be able to make
those rig in unreal engine ? e.g. if I wanted my character to walk forward and do a push up can I do that in unreal engine or do I need to do that first on maya before importing it into unreal engine 4?
