Tesla support and best hardware configuration.

Hello,

I’m concerned about performance for 3D reconstruction with huge dataset.
Does Reality Capture support Nvidia Tesla cards ? Is there any special setup to make it work?
For computing speed, is it best to have fast mutli core CPU or a big GPU?

Thanks

Hi Mar
No need to set anything except the newest drivers, as this is mostly the problem with Quadro-tesla cards…
Just keep in mind the quadro-tesla cards are always slower clocked than their gaming-equivalent cards… At much higher price…

Hi,

Thank you for your answer.
If I have a Tesla and a classic gpu (geforce), will both be used for 3D reconstruction?

Thanks!

Hi Mar
Yes, as they are CUDA devices, but do some testing on 50-100 image dataset and disable some of the GPUs to see its true power…
As mixing different GPU versions is not advisable ( lower performance ).
You can disable the used GPUs in RECONSTRUCTION->SETTINGS->IMAGE DEPTH CALCULATIONS->GPUs TO USE…

I’m not sure tesla would be worth it. unless your going to use them for something else as well. or need some the the extra features.

since rc dosen’t use more than around 1gb of gpu ram. you don’t need the extra ram that you get with them.

its all clock speeds and cuda cores.
