Stuck on packaging Engine

My project is stuck on:
[2016.08.30-03.13.23:606][ 70]MainFrameActions: Packaging (Windows (64-bit)): UE4Editor-Cmd: [2016.08.30-03.13.23:603][ 0]LogSavePackage:Display: Finished SavePackage D:/LocalProjects/MelbourneCity/Engine/

It’s been sitting on that for over 2 hours. There is over 300gb free on the system and target (where it’s being built) so that shouldn’t be an issue. Any ideas how I diagnose this?

edit: I’ve since found that it just gets stuck on arbitrary items, never progressing beyond that even with the CPU maxed out. The output log view and log file itself sheds no light on this. Last night I left it going and it was still going nowhere in the morning. I’d really love it if there was an obvious reason for this! Note that there are no errors.

edit2: It finally built after 12+ hours, only to notify me of an error’d asset. Once I rectified this the build completed in less than a minute. Surely it would be better if packaging did some pre-pass/initial validation of assets before going through the laborious cooking process?

Duke22,

  • How large was the project you were packaging?
  • Do you use IncrediBuild or any other program to borrow extra cores from other CPUs in your office/home?
  • Did you have anything else running on your machine?
  • Were you using the source version of the engine?

Looking forward to hearing back from you, thanks!
