Strange Socket behavior (Would like more understanding about sockets)

Hello forum, i Made a post in the question answer part of Unreal, About Sockets.
I thought i share this question here with the experts also. I read the docs and wiki. But they say you “can” attach a static object to a character.
But everything i myself in the editor fails…

Your hat needs to be a child of the Mesh (parent) that has the socket. Drag it to the Mesh then it will show up in details.
