Static mesh facing direction overwritten when parent capsule is moving

I have a player character with a root capsule, and inside that capsule is a static mesh.
In the even graph, every tick it has its rotation set to face the mouse (its a top down game), this works as intended when stationary.
However, when moving, the mesh faces away from the direction of travel, instead of facing the mouse.
Any ideas how to fix this, and have the static mesh always face the mouse?
