Hi all, I have a late 2015 iMac 5K model. originally I installed UE4 on the internal 1TB HDD that the mac has inbuilt. But because of slow indexing and compile times in Xcode, I decided to install UE4 on an external SSD. My question is that will this solve the problem of slow compile times and index times. also, I am not going to make the SSD my main booting device, the iMac will still boot from the internal HDD. My question is that will all of this work?
Hey there, i believe if you install ue 4 and have your project there aswell you might get an overall boost, but at least on windows there are caches UE 4 installs on the windows drive and that also affects the UE 4 experience. Another thing is that compilation although it uses the disk to read, it uses the CPU to compile, so if you have the same CPU you’ll only get benefits from the SSD side and not from both.
