Some plant assets from MegaScan/Quixel cause UI delay on placement.

Hello,

I have noticed on some of the plants from Quixel like Boxwood or Elderberry, when selecting one for placement in the scene, there is a delay before the item is ready and under the mouse, say anywhere from 3-8 seconds depending on item. Also, the same delay happens after clicking to place the item. This makes placement extremely slow and very poor responsiveness. I am not finding this on all Quixel items, for instance the Lilyturf works just fine.

I am on a new Mac Studio (2023). I noticed a similar issue on my Windows 11 Laptop, so I don't believe the problem is unique to Mac. Has anyone else seen a similar issue and even better how to resolve it?

Thanks!

Hi ,

Usually, this depends on "heavy" or resource intensive the asset you're trying to add to the scene is. The heavier the asset, the longer it will take for the Ui to become responsive again. Depending on your hardware, you might notice this to be more or less pronounced. While not ideal, this is technically normal behavior.

If you notice particular assets that cause this and you need to add them to your scene, you could try temporarily lowering your Quality settings to speed things up.

OK, I will give that a try.

I was not expecting the UI to struggle on a new Mac Studio M1 Ultra 20 core system. Could it be that there are compatibility issues with the new Silicon chipset vs Intel Mac? Also, I am running TM version 2022.2.3.

Thanks!

There are some compatibility issues with Apple Silicon. Right now, Apple Silicon isn't natively supported, so while Twinmotion will run on machines using this chipset, we haven't guaranteed full support and it is not designed to take full advantage of the hardware. Work is being done on this for a future update, although we don't have an expected timeline for this yet.

The 2022.2.3 version of Twinmotion should function with minimal issues on this chipset. The 2023.1 version currently has some compatibility issues, so we recommend avoiding the newer version for the time being.

OK, Good to know. Is there any place I can up-vote priority for Mac Silicon to raise the priority? Seeing how this is the new path for MAC OSX, I assume it already has some priority.

Right now, there isn't a way a place to upvote this, like on the roadmap. You're right that is has some priority, which means it doesn't fit on the roadmap. It isn't "Under consideration" since it is a planned feature, but it is not close enough to release that we want to place it in the "In progress" section of the roadmap. The team is aware of the desire for this and is working on getting this ready.
