Small question about UE4

Hello my name is Zacc and I’m a 3D Artist and if you don’t know what that is, I create game assets and meshes. If you’ve worked with UDK and importing assets into it before you know my problem. The LIGHTMAPS! Does UE4 require a second UV channel for the lightmap of the meshes you want to import? I’m thinking about getting UE4, but I want to make sure it’s right for me and I can work faster and smoothly without getting headaches from creating these in 3D Studio Max.
Another question I have is the use of C++. Is Unreal Script the same as C++ because I’m not seeing any issues of people moving to C++ and that they’re alike.
Thanks for helping!

Hi Zacc,

Unreal Engine 4 does still use Lightmaps for statically lit meshes. This is still a reasonable way to get good looking shadows on static objects with no performance overhead during gameplay. They can be frustrating at times but the performance benefits are great!

UnrealScript is not C++. There may be similarities between the two, but they are not the same.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Thank you!
