I request a shorter activation period than one week.
Preferably one hour, at least one day.
If anything goes wrong with ativation the first time, I do not want to have to wait for an entire week!
Of course it would be even better, if the entire licensing system would be more flexible altogether.
Otherwise, one of your key advertising features - using RC on a field laptop (imho a really big plus) - is near impossible to implement if you don’t have a budget for 2 licenses…
It caught my eye here in the forum briefly, but I did not go into details because I just got one the “normal” way.
At first glance, it seems like a very good idea.
I failed to find some more concise info - do you have anything ready for a busy freelancer?
Presumably it needs an online connection to operate, right?
And it’s only the promo, which admitedly will suffice for many projects, but not all.
And especially the big ones are the tricky ones…

These are just general recommendations based on the most common use cases. You need to choose individually which license fits best your needs.
The Steam RC floating version (http://store.steampowered.com/app/489180/) needs a constant Internet connection, that is right.
I know your conditions - I just got a license!
And I did follow the steampowered link the first time.
I’m not completely irresponsible!
There just isn’t very much info to go by and I did not manage to find any steam-specific link…
And I don’t really want to read all the smallprint for improtant general info.
Anyway, I think I got the picture…
The Steam client does solve the activation problems and as a result I’ve switched to that over the Promo but it does offer one or two maddening caveats, the worst being you can’t use your steam library on another computer when RC is churning out a scene.
I’ve got a few computers for VR and I typically need RC to render on another machine, except if I want to use an audio mixer I bought in Steam, test another thing in a VR via Steam it says I’m actively using RC on another computer and cannot simultaneously use steam applications on multiple computers at the same time. RC is understandably choking the rig I’m running it on, so I can’t use the other programs in my workflow.
When my 3 months are up, I’ll create another steam account so I can use RC on that, but just FYI before you dip your toes into that pool.
I jumped onto the steam version too, prefer it this way much more, i’m planing to install a fresh win10 version this weekend,
also fresh steam install ect. i hope i can load my RC files without a problem, had a few problems with some of my 3 month’s Promo files, they didnt load (but its ok, i just run the photos with the steam version again, RC is fast
thanks for the info, I’m sure that is helpful for many people, me included.
Is that a general issue in steam, meaning can you always only run one app from one account or is that RC-specific?
And what is the official answer to my initial question?
I can’t imagine it would be so difficult to add 1 or 2 entires to the database of the activation period dropdown.

Hello again,
it is the Steam’s policy. We recommend you to create a new Steam account for RealityCapture use.
