Running out of Virtual Memory when baking lightmaps

This is unbelievable… I made my computer spend the whole weekend baking lightmaps in High Quality, I saw it reach the 98% of conclusion, and the next thing I noticed was that Windows had restarted. I went to see what caused the restart, and it was lack of virtual memory. Like, how the hell do you allow the engine to spend days building only to get to 100% and have it fail?? This should be unacceptable. The engine should detect any problem like this before even starting the process, this is frustrating as hell, man…
