Refracting material on HUD possible?

I made a simple refracting material but on attempt of applying to the HUD it requires to be set to the User Interface material domain which then loses it’s refraction. I am trying to make a translucent frosted glass element to put under my ammo and such, anyone know if that’s possible? It seemed really simple at first, it’s just a box with gaussian blur, but it needs to render everything behind it so I’m not sure how to go about this.
