Pardon my squeek, but I miss the old site, know a project like this comes at great expense and time, but perhaps some feedback is constructive. When I get a response to a post, I link to the home page of the site, not to the post. i then don’t see “My posts” to b-line to the thread, have to search.
The thin white and light blue font may look sleek, but against light backgrounds it’s work to read. (BTW) I’ve piped up about this issue in RC, the really tiny font in the panels that open up lower left, have to have magnifiers handy sometimes, especially if I’m bleary eyed from long hours and working in the dark, and that’s on a 2560x1440 monitor, can’t imagine how this works on a 4K monitor, which is what this workflow begs for. The Help panel features an intuitive zoom font size function with the scroll wheel, just a line or two of code to implement where it really counts, not in Help!
I hope that’s helpful feedback and not taken as whining.
You are right about the home page redirection, whenever a login is performed you will not be redirected to the original page but to the home page. We have to fix this for sure
The design of this forum is not final and it will change.
Regarding the application feedback. It depends on what method of DPI scaling is in use ( the available DPI scaling methods are determined by your Windows version ). On Windows 10 and 4K display the default scaling method assures that the text is as readable as it would be on Full HD display.
But, you are right, for some the text is too small and they should have the option to change it.
A dialogue between CR and end users is the right idea all around, so thanks for that. Lubenko had earlier pointed me to the scroll wheel zoom function on the Help panel, definitely the best idea to apply that where it really counts, in 1Ds and 2Ds panels. Yes, I can change at the system level the scaling for 4K to magnify, but then I loose the very detail in the imagery and model that motivates working with a 4K monitor. Not to sell you on something you’ve already supported.
Another item missing from the site makeover that I found myself using quite a bit before was the “My posts” link, nice to know those discussions were being logged and that I could return to them for a refresher or to share with others as the themes come up.
I had made one other comment about the fine font and such disappearing on me, ignore that one, realized I hadn’t restored the contrast settings on my monitor, one shared with a Mac that requires a shift in contrast due to gamma. Things display fine now.
