In this thread https://support.capturingreality.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115001227911-Hardware-Optimisation-Benchmarking-Shenanigans-?page=2 we are discussing if installing a demo next to a paid version like Promo would be likely to cause any problems. We Promo users would need to do this in order to be able to run an awesome benchmark prototype written by ivan.
Another possibility would be for RC granting a short period of CLI (one week?) for people who are willing to run the benchmark and upload the results?
I’m pretty sure - I was able to just download and install the demo over the promo, or uninstall the promo and install the demo run the demo, then re-install the promo when done. and the original license would work ok. I can’t remember ><
It’s best to get a official answer, as it wouldn’t be nice to get locked out.
I don’t think having 2 versions side by side in different directories will work. That would not play nice with the benchmark as it uses the default install directory for the software, and things would get confusing.
Hello everyone,
It is not possible to have both a Demo version and a paid version at the same time, but you can switch between Demo and paid licenses on the same computer without limitation. But you need to download proper version of RealityCapture from our webpage.
Hi Zuzana,
thanks alot for the info!
well, you can actually use both Demo and Promo version on one PC (without the need to uninstall one of them), when you have a Steam version of RealityCapture and switch between 2 different Steam accounts - one for the Demo and one for the Promo:

Hi lubenko,
nice idea!
But would ivan’s benchmark still work?
I am not sure about all the details but if you take into consideration the specifics of the Steam version, it could be usable as well
Thanks - I need to add more logic to the code to figure that one out… and as a bonus it’s a valid excuse to have steam on the work pc
