Promo licensing nightmare

Hi
we’ve been having a frustrating problem with the licensing process for promo licenses.
We have had to re-license the machines several times now because each time we restarted the machine, it kept asking for a license, even though it already was licensed.
We’ve just had to reinstall the OS on some machines with this software but we can’t re-license the machine again because the licensing system thinks reinstalling OS counts as a swap…even though it’s not, a reinstall should not count as a swap.
it seems counter intuitive to not license through physical address & hostname.

contacting support has been difficult, we are on the other side of the world.
wished there was a phone or chat contact so we could get live help.
at this point we would have to buy another promo license to license the software in time…

Can we have some advice here?

Hello,
thank you for your post and we would like to apologize for inconvenience caused.

  1. The activation can’t be erased by simple PC restart. We never experienced this problem and none of our user have reported it so far. Therefore, if you have this problem then we must find the solution for you. We would need information about your OS and detailed repro steps in order to be able to do it. We must be able to reproduce it.

  2. Yes reinstalling OS is counted as computer swap and you are not able to activate your license on the reinstalled OS until the last activation expires. We have solution for this on our features plan. Thank you for your understanding.

  3. Yes the 1:1 phone or Skype technical support is available but just for CLI and FULL license users. Promo users can contact us by email. We are solving just license problems and problems that are blocking user to use the software. We refer user to this forum with all other ( technical ) problems as the Promo license does not contain technical support. Thank you for your understanding.

hi thanks for the reply

the reason why we had to keep re-licensing was that due to our data infrastructure we keep roaming profiles for users on win 7 64bit. somehow this wasnt registering on the local machine, even though we had licensed it on the user’s profile a few times, everytime it ran roaming profile sync it would try to relicense again, hence thinking it was a swap.

we started from a clean profile with no roaming profile sync and it was fine with that. hopefully the full license doesn’t do this, otherwise we would have blown a lot of money. we are currently testing the software to evaluate whether it’s worth the expenditure, but to be honest these issues are not very impressive and we are worried about the licensing platform now.

i have opened a ticket so we can get back one of our licenses , we will still our promo licenses because we aren’t able to set up a full license in time due to it’s heavy spec nature ( we are waiting for hardware to arrive from overseas). Having already spent $99 on a promo licence, that we cannot use to debug problems with the software is incredibly frustrating and time wasting. what is the point of a promo license for evaluation if we can’t even evaluate it properly?
