processing failed: unexpected program state

Hi.

I’m trying to texture a high quality model and about 80% through the texturing process i keep getting ‘unexpected program state’ and the texturing fails.
in the console i have (0x7\0x7) in the line below the failure.

Have tried reconstructing the model with a smaller region to see if its the computer getting overwhelmed and that doesn’t seem to have made a difference. All the images haven’t been moved etc.

any ideas?

thanks all

wilkie

Hi Wilkie
Please click on the MODEL to get detailed information on the UV settings for that model, make a screenshot and post it here.

Hey,

I started a new project and reconstructed and for the same error texturing. attached the screen shot of the console and model info. Do you think this could be an over heating issue - should i limit the processor, Im also trying converting the sony RAW files to TIFFs on future models to see if thats more stable? any ideas?

thank you

wilkie

NB just tried running the texture with CPU’s not to exceed 90% and texturing failed with the same error after 11686.901 seconds. It doesn’t seem to be a hardware overload issue to my untrained eyes/

Hi Wilkie

Where have you created the UVs for the model ? outside RC or ?

hey, thanks.

Its all just the workflow in RC. Literally just Aligned, constructed high detail model and then tried to texture, during which it came up with the error. I presume the UVs are built as part of the texture process so they may have not completed owing to the error.

Hi Wilkie

use the UNWRAP tool and set FIXED TEXEL DETAIL and use OPTIMAL TEXEL value, then use TEXTURING.
And please report back.

Massive thanks.
I couldn’t find which precise settings you were suggesting i the unwrap tool, but the ones selected in the screen below seems to have done the job. Do these setting for the unwrap look ok to you?

Hi Wikie

Change MAXIMAL TEXTURE RESOLUTION from 16k to 4k

change TEXEL SIZE to OPTIMAL TEXEL VALUE ( up in the unwrap tool ) and get full resolution texture

test it with these settings and report back

Hi, thanks again,

these seems to be working ok. Would you be able to explain how these parameters work a little. Im using the UVs to generate normal and AO maps for simplified meshes so sometimes it would be desirable to have the most detailed UV possible. Presumably using the optimal texel size and fixed size is not the fastest but the most quality? Is your suggestion to take the resolution down from 16k to 4k for stability, presumably you would get a more detailed map at 16k with the optimal fixed texel size?

thanks for your help again. much much appreciated.

wilkie

Hi Wikie
you will get the same texture quality when you use 16 or 1k map and the same TEXEL value, the difference is the unwrap efficiency when you use 4K texture resolution, this is the best for now.

Ok great, and this creates multiple maps, so when exporting the mesh is there anything which needs to be considered when checking the single texture map, and the map size in the export dialogue?

thanks once again.

wilkie

Hi Wikie
Depending on what results you need. There is also another option - to export all textures as a single texture ( max 65k as the TIF )
Try both ways, depending on the target application requirement
