Procedural Generation for Landscapes?

Hello,

I was wondering: is it possible to procedurally generate a landscape using something like a perlin noise node? The idea is that a landscape will render on the fly based on a provided seed (not unlike the popular Minecraft). I tried experimenting with the material editor, but other than normal maps, I couldn’t find anything that would do the job. Is this possible with the new 4.15 update?
