I created a dump but unfortunately it was already up to almost ten gigs of memory. So there is that. I guess I can upload it to onedrive if you would like access to it. Anyhow, i’m downloading the 4.11.0.6 code and will see if I cant figure out what caused this. It was running fine and then I removed the boom arm from the Character, anyhow, i’m fairly certain that even if I did something stupid (and I probably did) it should not consume so much memory (and crash). I looked over the known issues but did not see anything that fit this.

PS. Once the file finishes uploading to onedrive I will paste a link here for anyone who has a spare ten gigs of hardrive space and hours of spare time.
I removed the boom arm from a ThirdPersonCharacter, but I did not notice any unusual increase in memory. Did you happen to make any other changes to the blueprint?
Also, did the editor crash and give your a crash reporter window, or did it just freeze?
Sorry it has taken me so long, my exact steps where to make a new code project based off the 2d side scroller, went into the c++ and removed the code related to the boom arm, jumped into the editor, hit compile and then hit the play in editor. I appologize my computer went to sleep and stopped the upload, I have restarted it and turned off sleeping on my computer till it finishes the dump. It did NOT crash, just froze. sorry there is no crash report. I got all the code pulled and will start my own investigation this weekend. Also, i’m on windows 10, 4 core i7 and a GeForce GTX 760 GPU.
okey. I just did it in a clean project (the original was a clean project just testing out UE10.11 but…)
I have found that there is a correlation with compiling and then hitting the play in editor button. After I have had the problem if I force close it and then open it up and hit play in editor it runs fine. Its ONLY a problem if I hit compile, wait for it to finish successfully and then hit play. I cannot get it to happen in a BP only game.
just the in-editor compile button, I don’t use the visual studio button ever as it does not refresh the project. I’ll might make a video of it tonight if I get the time, so you can see what I’m dealing with.
I performed tests in a few different projects using the in-editor compile button, but did not see a freeze occurring. If you can make the video, that may be helpful so that I can see what you are experiencing. Thank you.
After some further investigation, the freeze seems to be related to commenting out base code that is vital to the project functioning properly, which is not recommended. If you find yourself able to reproduce this same freeze in a clean project without commenting out base code, please feel free to reply to this thread and we can investigate the issue further.
