I’m fairly new to unreal engine and I was watching this video: Unreal Engine 4 Tutorial - Fire (Burning Effect) - YouTube.
My post process works, but when I watch how the guy from the video adds his trigger (sphere) everything is different on my version.
I did everything in the video except for when he shows the spehere part. So could anyone please help me with this?
The video is 2:37 so it’s not a drag to watch :)!
The first thing that comes to my mind would be that you tried to use a shape “sphere” which changed since then to be something else. What you wanna use is a “Sphere collision”.
Sorry I don’t know the exact terms yet, but you still had it right :)!
Everything works now so thanks a lot. I think I will be back soon with some more questions because I’m a newbie at this.
Basically the difference is that a sphere collision will only overlap and not prevent movement. It has no visible component and is just a type of “trigger area”. Once the player enters X should happen.
A sphere is pretty much the opposite. It is a visible thing that blocks the player and acts as a thing in your level.
It used to be only “sphere” but epic later added the sphere as it is right now and renamed the collision (trigger) to sphere/box/capsule collision.
Also if your problem is solved could you please remember to hit the “Accept answer” button right below the voting arrows on the left of the answer so others know it’s solved?
If no answer solved your exact issue just write an answer yourself and accept that one. It won’t give you points but it makes sure others have a nice overview while browsing while also making sure the solution is in there so people searching in the future have a fair chance to find something
I needed to edit my comment for some typos but I accidentally pressed the delete. I accepted your comment :)! Your last comment helps me too because now I know how to make a trigger and I’m making a horror game so I’m going to need a lot of them.
And if I ever have a question unawnsered then I’ll try to awnser it myself :)!
