Pixel Streaming with home NAS - is it possible?

Dear Unrealers

I was wondering if it is possible to make pixel streaming work if set up with a home NAS server, tbh I have no experience with NASs at the moment, I’m just planning to buy one, and if it comes at a managable price, I would be really interested in investing in one that can also handle pixel streaming so i can showcase my work directly on my homepage without the need to downloading the app.

I actually have an imac and a pc with rtx2060, but I don’t really want either of them to run the app 24/7 (as I also work on both) so whenever someone visits my website the app/game is running and available to try.

Hey,

Pixelstreaming has not so super high requirements except for a real GPU (see Pixel Streaming Reference | Unreal Engine Documentation ) , but your application / an unreal project has. So to make it shor, I dont think a NAS can handle an UE4 Application, you would need a beefy Server or second PC. You also can do something like hosting an Application in the AWS Cloud for example, but this will get quite expensive over time.

Hello:

Free server open for anyone like to connet and show your UE4 project., easily just setup Parameters from

Unreal Editor, Under the Level Editor > Play category, find the Additional Launch Parameters setting, and set its value to -AudioMixer -PixelStreamingIP=65.52.189.204 -PixelStreamingPort=8889.

@Hangs - thanks, yeah, I got a NAS since and its ■■■■ slow to be honest, i can see that now that it’s not really suitable for pixel streaming
@dpcad - wow, thanks, will give it a try later
