Hi everybody,
I’m new in a RC’s world and I have the beta version of it. I’m triyng to make some 3D mesh from laser scanning but as the title says, when I run a reconstruction, or even a 2D render, or a smoothing the ’ Not enough video memory’ error appears and i can’t not see the 3D model!
I have 32 GB of RAM, Nvidia Quadro as graphic card and 1TB of storage…
What should I do?
Thanks in advances.
Hi Allesandro,
how big is your model? With my modest setup (i5 4460 - GTX 750 4GB - 32 GB Ram) RC can display models up to about 10m Tris, so not very large. You probably need to simplify yours…
Hi and thanks for the answer… I have followed your advice and I have simplified the model but I have lost some details. I have been thinking of cutting my model and make separated meshes but It could be complicated and take a lot of time all the process…What do you suggest to operate??
Thanks
Hi Alessandro,
it depends on what you want to do with the model!
The 10m Tris is the guideline (for my setup) so that I can have the model displayed in “solid” or “smooth”. I am not sure if those restricitons apply also for the RC renderer.
Orthophotos work with higher tri counts and export is also independent of memory afaik.
That you lose detail with simplification is inevitable…
Hello everyone,
if you have not enough video memory (it means GPU memory) to display the whole model in the solid or sweet mode, you can use Clipping box to display the model by parts.
Hi everybody, as Zuzana mentioned, this trick with Clipping box works fine for me
Hi Zuzana,
that’s a good thip, thanks!
Do you mean to actually clip the whole thing and create a new and smaller model od does RC regognize the box and ignores the res?
