Need help - I need different textures/meshes on multiplayer clients when a variable is set.

I’ve got a requirement to make an actor have a different mesh on clients depending on a variable on the player. I have a vague idea of doing this (setting the mesh/texture with “has authority”'s “false” leg), but I’m not sure how to call this. On tick seems excessive. Is there an event that calls when the player can see an actor?
