Moving through a destructible mesh - weird behaviour

Greetings everbody!

I have been working with destructible meshes for a day now. I have been trying to basically recreate the mega mushroom from Super Mario with which the character grows and is able to destroy the environment.

Now I have encountered a weird bug that I haven’t been able to fix for hours and it’s driving me crazy. I have included videos here to show what I mean.

Basically, when the character is growing, everything is working fine and the character moves through the boxes in a fluid movement:

When the character is fully grown though, he get’s stuck at every box and the movement becomes very annoying:

I really don’t understand why this is happening since I’m just changing the character scale via Set Actor Scale 3D which shouldn’t affect the destruction as far as I know. If somebody could help me with this, it would be greatly appreciated. If needed I can also include screenshots of my blueprints and settings for my destructible mesh. I’m becoming desperate at this point, I’ve been changing values, watching tutorials, searching in formus and trying around for hours now and I really don’t know what to do. If anyone is willing to lend me a hand here, you’d be my hero.

I’m still struggling with this, if anyone could help me, that’d be great.
