Mixamo Animation Retargeting V2 - for Unreal Engine 5 and MetaHuman

Support for U5.6 is now available, with enhancements

Given the significant changes in the retargeting system in UE5.6, the “Mixamo Retargeting 2” update required more work than usual, but this has allowed us to improve the quality and usability of the plugin to get the best retargeting results right out of the box on UE5.6:

  • Improved support for MetaHumans including the new MetaHuman Creator plugin .,
  • Added support for IK bones to streamline the integration of Mixamo assets with UE Mannequin based IK setups such as the updated Third Person template provided with UE 5.6.
    • Retargeted Mixamo skeletons now include the standard Mannequin IK bones for hands and feet .
    • Retargeting between Mixamo and Mannequin skeletons now generates animation for the IK bones allowing them to work correctly with runtime IK systems such as foot placement .,
  • Various updates to the generated IK Rig assets to improve retargeting results, including better foot placement and head rotations .,
  • Updates to the generated IK Retargeter assets to work with the new retarget op stack in UE 5.6.,
