Manipulating bones on non-character skeletal mesh


I’m trying to figure out how to how to move a bone from a skeletal mesh (which is not a character) at runtime using the mouse position. This is what I have so far:



The thing is, although I can print the mouse position in the anim event graph, I get an “Accessed none” error on the player controller and the bone is not moving or rotating either.

Any pointers on how to fix this correctly? I would like to find a logical approach to mechanical skeletal meshes that are non-character to animate and manipulate.
