I have been working for the past week trying to do one simple task : Build a simple menu for a game. In that week the editors of all three versions continue to crash to desktop!!!
Tonight was the straw that broke the camel’s back. I did some work on the menu system and like I have done the entire effing process has been add one little thing then save it. I paused for a moment to eat a piece of chocolate that my wife gave me. When I turned back the editor had CTDT and the launcher restarted.
Now I went through the website and did all that I could to locate Epic Support. But when I clicked on the link and after some time came by I eventually got the message that what I was looking for does not exist. WHAT THE HELL???!!! How can Tim truly think that we can use their tool without any support? How can Tim put out this pile of dog poop that crashes every few minutes??? And do it without any way for people to feed bug reports to them???
Tonight after the candy crash I removed my operating system (Windows 11) and reinstalled Windows 10 from scratch. I then restored everything but had to reinstall DirectX. But I finally got the editor up and running. For a while everything seemed to run fine. I created my UI folder, created my menu widget, moved in my image, created the canvas and dropped the image on it. Then I added a textbox, a vertical box, and 2 buttons. The third button TADA caused the editor to CTDT. (crash to desktop in case you don’t know what that means)
And now the event log:

The thing of this type of crash is that there is no caught report by the application which means that when the application is getting an exception it has bubbled all the way up the editor object model and never caught and then is raised to the operating system.
