Lumen GI and Reflections feedback thread

Hi all, I have a question for anyone interested and for @Daniel_Wright ,

Why so much effort for current gen consoles, when they will become obsolete in not much time? (And not a lot of games will be released with UE5 before that date?). I think nobody would care about not using Lumen nor Nanite in current-gen consoles. Even more if using them requires some tradeoffs that users don’t want.

I have also seen comments pointing (in a well documented way) something like “this won’t be possible to Lumen because of -it’s nature-”. So, I wonder: was Lumen conceived with the current gen consoles as the main objetive? Was Lumen conceived as an scalable engine, to be able to evolve and cover the needs of trully next gen consoles and future PCs, in 5 years? Or it is already limited since it’s birth, and the solution/engine will be a new one?
