Lights get all blocky when trying to increase attenuation

I’m a beginner, trying to create a ‘glow’ effect in orthographic mode.

I have a transparent mesh and a material on a plane that increases in size, and a point light I’m trying to match with it. But when I increase the attenuation radius of the point light, it lights up blocks of the scene. Any help would be appreciated.

All I’m doing is setting the attenuation radius as a multiple of it’s current radius. Not sure if this is what I’m supposed to be doing.

If anyone can help, that’d be appreciated.
