Issues with weighted paint animation (resolved)

Tried google first, haven’t resolved to anything yet:
Basically I weight paint an animation in blender and animation works fine, but upon import into ue4 the entire mash is manipulated by the bone rotation/translation.
I have only the single bone and am exporting disabling adding leaf bones.
might have to change images post-posting to ensure gif works

Thats not an issue with the animation, that’s an issue with you not giving the object a root bone.

At a barare minimum you need a root bone to hold the object in place while another is used to operate as an hinge.

Not a problem.
the fact it works on one and and not the other is enough for head scratching.
