Issues with importing non-skeleton animated object from 3DS Max

Hello

I’m trying to create an animation for sliding doors that will meet in the middle. I’ve created the animations on 3DS max using the auto key setting but when i import them into Unreal Engine 4.6.1 its not recognised as an animation unless i select import as skeletal. Using this option causes the imported object to disappear when close to it, which is problematic. Is there a way to sort out the animations or the importing so that i am able to have my animated doors without them disappearing?

Thanks

I would do the animation like doors etc within UE4 instead of doing it in max. Have a look into matinee sequences.

Have a look at this tutorial : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUPCTfCc2kM
