Reverse engineering is not illegal, but reverse engineering copyright protected data is. It is also illegal to rip content from a game. If you were paid to do , both you and your employer would be held responsible if the copyright holder decided to sue. Check the licencing agreements/eula’s of any game, it is explicitly stated doing so is illegal.
