Is destroying actors in another level possible?

So im making a puzzle game and my goal is to have all levels connected through a hub. Once a player gets to the end of 1 level and they go through the portal it will load up the Hub and the doors to the next level will be open. Question being can i destroy the door actor from inside a different level instance? If not what ways do i go about getting this effect?

Store a reference to the actor (door) in game instance. Then when the new level is loaded get the door reference from game instance and destroy it in the level.
