If scene turns black after building lighting - it might be this

Hey, after spending a day fruitlessly searching the internet I thought I’d share my solution, as I haven’t seen this suggested anywhere.

I am in the process of converting my project from Lumen to baked lighting. So

  • I enabled static lights and disabled Lumen in the project settings
  • fixed my UVs for light maps
  • made all my lights static
  • upgraded to UE 5.2 (there was a weird bug making part of my level geometry disappear on baking, which is now fixed)

But still, every time I build lighting → everything turns black.

Long story short, in the end it turned out I forgot to adjust my Postprocess Volume settings! Just search for “Lumen” in the volume’s details and change GI and reflection methods.
