How to turn off all root motion and just use launch character for motion?

I have an uppercut reaction animation that I actually want to use on the third person character whenever the mini-boss kicks and hits the player.

Since this is for a beat em up style game I will have to work out launching him either left or right on the Y axis whenever he is hit. What settings in the animation do I need to turn off to have only the launch character effect the character’s motion?

Unticking enable root motion in the anim sequence and ticking force root lock should work. Probably with root lock mode set to first frame?
