How to fix Animdynamics distorting the mesh

I am trying to implement hair physics for stylized, modelled hair and I was told to use AnimDynamics to animate hairbones in order to achieve a gentle hair sway when the head moves in real time.

However, implementing the AnimDynamics node distorts my mesh.
For testing/development purposes I have a mesh with only a singular hair strand at the momen which looks like this:

But when adding the AnimDynamics node and setting up the box extends the mesh distorts to this:

I have looked everywhere and I can’t find the solution to this problem.
Or why this happens in the first place for that matter.
