My brother and I want to use the unreal engine to make a game. I have a subscription already. But I was wondering if I can install it on his computer and mine.
Ok thank you.
It’s not about number of UE installations, its about the number of people using it.
You have a license, so you can use UE on infinity personal computers if you want
Your brother must purchase the unreal engine license to be eligible to use it

I don’t know the model (not sure), but if it is per-seat as far as I know, it is enough if you are not using it at the same time…
Say you are a employer that buys a license and you have 2 turns for a day one in the morning one in the night, so 2 people can use the “same license” because they are not working in parallel.
That is how I understand per-seat (it helps companies that have schedules and 2 or more turns for people working on a “seat” in a day).
if it is the case, you can be legal with one if: one of you use it on the morning, the other on the night.
- will like also a clarification to know if this will be correct or not?
- Anyway… and to make it more clear, you brother can subscribe for 1 month and stop the subscription… and (maybe???) you can continue doing updates only for your usage I guess (I think binary formats don’t break between editor upgrades maybe??)… don’t know how “legal” this is… even both of you can unsubscribe from the monthly updates and still able to use UE (NOTE: still you are subject to the 5%, you only don’t get the updates).
Extra: also see this How to download the engine after subscription expired? - Installation & Setup - Unreal Engine Forums so even, you can have a base version and pay only the subscription for one month, then unsubscribe… still, you need 5% if you sold the thing… and sure return back modifications of the engine I guess?? thought it will need to be another way than github… perhaps you need to contact the team directly for return changes ;).
Rama is correct; the license is tied to a person. So if two developers use the same physical seat, two licenses are required.
If two developers use the same computer, two licenses are required. If one subscription is maintained but the other is cancelled, the two developers are not permitted to share the updated engine.
