How can I turn on and off movement replication on an actor at runtime?

I want to turn off movement replication for an item being held by a character, because the item is right infront of the char its choppy when moving on a dedicated cloud server. I need the items location set on both client and server, but i need the client to Interp the location updates to be smooth. Or if there is a better way pls let me know.
