How can I stack foliage on top of foliage?

Hi, I’m trying to make a banana mountain using the foliage editor, I can only place them on top of the landscape, at some point I was able to make a huge stack placing the bananas on top of each other, unfortunately I didn’t save the project and now I can’t replicate it. Not sure what setting enabled me to do that but I remember it was on the editor for that specific foliage, would appreciate any help, thank you.

It’s an option

But the foliage needs collision for it to work

Foliage filter is on, I tried but didn’t work, the collision preset is set as blockall, is it a different one?

It probably means your mesh has no collision volume. Look in the static mesh editor. I don’t mean the block all setting, I mean, use the collision menu to build a collision volume.

You’ll find if you put the mesh in the level, as an actor, is has no collision, that’s the problem.

As a mesh the collision is set as simple complex and it has collision when placed as actor but once I move it to foliage it changes to a FoliageType and the only option to add collision is in the collision preset.

I think you need it on default collision, not use complex as simple.

Default collision has the same result. I tried another mesh, project default collision, I drop it and changes to foliagetype, follow your instructions and same result.

In the mesh editor, it should have a green shape around it, when you use this option

banana
bananafoliage

Thats the original mesh, but once I move to foliage it creates another mesh, that one has no collision options like the original.

Ah. I have NO IDEA why sometimes it wants to convert to a foliage type, and other times it doesn’t :joy:

But that’s the answer…

I appreciate the help, I will try a few different meshes to see if I can figure out the reason why and post it here in case it happens to anyone else.

I would love to know. It’s very irritating

Maybe also try and new post.

Does it work if you set the collision in the foliage type?

No, it doesn’t, I just found one… what is the point? :joy:
