Help! Wood shader

I’m having a lot of troubles making a wood shader, I’d like to make something like the wood in this video, It’s very rough, and the light hits it how you would expect it to.

My attempts to make wood exactly like this / somewhat like this have failed, because the textures I find don’t provide a very realistic feeling. Here’s a comparison, and what I have now.


I’ve been told to use Substance designer to make a diffuse / specular and etc.

You should familiarize yourself with the basics of Physically Based Shading.

I’m not sure I get what you mean by this? I have a roughness value plugged in, and I attempted to make the material physically based, I’m not sure how I could do it even better.
