Hi, i have been playing with the NVIDIA VXGI-4.10 Branch… I am not the best with lighting in general so maybe this is something simple but how can i properly/evenly light these areas? I understand they are supposed to be shadowed, that part is fine… but it is pitch black which in reality it should just be a slightly shaded/darker area.
I am using the marketplace asset/scene “Medieval Village” but in the compiled VXGI Fork. I would appreciate any insight! The inside of buildings are of course pitch black as well, will i really need to place a point light in everything? Surely there is a way to achieve “ambient” light for a minimum brightness at least.
You could add a Skylight to your scene, reduces shadows/darkness, or add environment fog, also lightens the scene. Notice that the SKylight sometimes has to be removed, re-added to get the effect, not entirely sure why.
Thank you that’s what i ended up finding out. I added a sky light and then played with its intensity and alpha of the color to get it to a minimum ambient brightness in the dark areas. It worked out fine, for some reason i was under the impression that GI based builds/systems couldn’t use a sky light but it let me add it just fine… so maybe that is only a limitation of some of them. Not sure.
