Help in UE4 level design

Hey Guys!
I’m really new to UE4, and I have a few doubts that may seem very easy, but I don’t know how to do it.

  1. When I use a static mesh cube as a ceiling , it doesn’t block out the sun…ideally if I create a windowsless and doorless room it should be pitch dark but there is still light filtering through. How do I stop this from happening? It doesn’t happen when I place a box from geometry.
  2. How to make it night- I have seen the tutorials on the day-night cycle but I wanted to know how to permanently make it night.
