Hands (Vive controllers) have become detached from HMD view

I started with the HMD + Motion controller level in the Virtual Reality template, I created a new, empty level, placed some geometry and a widget blueprint in there, added widget interaction to the motion controller BP, and when I run the VR preview, and I’m holding the Vive controllers, they appear in the VR view to be about 10’ to my right. They still respond to my moving them, it’s just as though there is a ghost me moving the controllers off to my right. Any ideas how that may have happened or how I can fix?
