Get physics to run on attached Skeltal mesh?

I am having trouble getting physics to run on an attached skeletal mesh, using blueprints

I believe I need to Add Skeletal Mesh Component -> Attach To -> Set Collision Enabled - > Set Simulate physics

If I set the root bone to simulate or default, it applies physics, but doesn’t attach, instead it flies off the parent mesh.

I have tired this in the event graph and the construction graph.

Has anyone else got this working properly ?
