Fudging a dash animation?

I’ve put evade in my game and basically just had it act as a launch in one direction. It really needs an animation and some polish.

Only one problem

I don’t have any animations for evading. After watching some reference I’ve decided to post here and see if anyone has tried to fudge an evade animation by using short snippets of the movement animations. Is there another way? I want to accomplish something similar to below (Halo 5, no crazy animation just frozen character pose and some particle effects).
