EXR / UDIM support

Hi,
What are the chances you are going to add EXR texture export (for a linear workflow) and UDIMs for large models?

We will support HDR textures soon. The UDIM is questionable. We need to discuss it internally. But we don’t have it on plan for now. Thank you for your understanding.

and when you have UVs (UDIM ) prepared in an external application and import the model back in RC to get texture reprojection is it working or not ?
or just for the actual UV layout - for large models prepared in RC ( UDIM UV unwrap ) ?

Both really - it depends on what we are doing.
Sometimes we use the photogrammetry output directly (retextured with linear EXRs in e.g. Mari because jpegs are not good enough), and sometimes we just use the generated mesh to create a clean re-modelled version (with UDIM UVs) and texture that.

Doing either of those things (UDIM UV unwrap or texture reprojection on a re-imported UDIM UV model) directly in RC would be amazing.

so when you have custom-made UDIM UV layout and import it in RC for retexturing, then it’s not working properly or ??

Oh, I haven’t tried that yet, since we would also need the texture as linear EXRs to be useful to us, but I can try it.

further to the other thread I started about UDIMs… they don’t work in RC for me with UDIMs out of Maya/ZBrush. It may be a smoothed UV issue???
