Exporting from 3D Studio Max to UE4

Hi everyone, so I’m relatively new to game development overall and right now my major road block is trying to figure out how to make reload animations (any weapon) for the third person character. As far as I understand it, I need to import my characters skeleton to 3DS Max and do the rigging and then export the anim back out into UE4. I’ve tried this and it just doesn’t workout for me versus using the 3DS biped. Is there a way that I can retarget the 3DS max biped skeleton to my character (fuseCC/mixamo)?
