I am in the exact same boat, and experiencing the exact same caliber of “support” from their customer service. Truly abysmal.
My son and I have played Epic Games for nearly 8 years, have only ever had one account associated with the same email, and there’s “nothing they can do,” AKA nothing they are -willing- to do. It shouldn’t be that difficult.
Absolute garbage. We won’t spend another dime or minute on Fortnite, Fall Guys, Rocket League, etc. until the issue is resolved - which, sadly, is looking like never.
